A: After installation of Smart Guard please check your system power management configuration and make sure hard drive will never enter sleep mode. Q: What kind of camera I can use with Smart Guard and where can I buy them? A: There are various types of camera. A typical set is 4 color (or B&W) CCTV cameras and coaxial cable with composite connectors. A: Smart Guard is using MPEG4 compression technology and records in motion detection mode which is the most effective combination for security video recording. For a 40GB hard drive the recording time can be 4 to 10 days depending on motion intensity of each channel. It is better to record in d: , e: ... top Playback Q: How can I use Media Player to play video files recorded by Smart Guard? A: Smart Guard records video in AVI format. However, because of MPEG4 compression you need to install this particular codec before playback. You can find the codec Xvid¡K in two places: 1. In the CD under folder /Tool; 2. After installation, under C:/Program Files/AVerMedia/Smart Guard/Backup. Just double click it and follow the instructions to install it. Alarm Q: There is no voice message when I answer phone alarm from Smart Guard. A: Check out your Callout alarm settings and make sure the voice file can be played in the PC. Second, your modem must support full duplex voice transmission. Most modem should support this function unless the model is too old. You can use the Windows audio recorder to create the .wav file and select the correct quality for Phone alarm. top Remote view Q: How can I connect to Smart Guard through Internet Explorer? A: The easiest way is to subscribe ADSL line with fixed IP. You can type the fixed IP in the website field to link to Smart Guard. Backup Q: When I specify time period from 10:00AM to 4:00PM for backup what Smart Guard will do? A: Smart Guard will backup video from 10:00:00AM to 4:59:59PM. That means the whole hour video (4:00:00PM ~ 4:59:59PM) will be copied to backup folder. Q: How does Smart Guard copy video files for backup? A: All backup video files are divided into 650MB and kept in folders (CD1, CD2, CD3, ¡K) which are suitable for burning in CD-R. If you want to backup video again, make sure to clear previous folders first or assign a different path so as not to mix up backup video files. Other Q: I can't open the manual in the CD? A: The manual is in PDF format and requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to open it. Acrobat Reader is a free software. You can find it in Smart Guard CD/Acrobat/AdbeRdr60_enu.exe. Just double click AdbeRdr60_enu.exe and follow instructions to install it. Q: Can I do other jobs or play MP3 with my PC when Smart Guard is working? A: Yes, Smart Guard uses very few computer resources so that you can install it in your home PC.
