Safe Room Panic Room
Another approach to implement the concept. You can now have a safe room - panic room in your own home or even apartment without tearing down a wall or using up any space or spending thousands of dollars.
We are not talking about a steel vault. That is beyond the reach of most of us and not even that is a perfect sanctuary against all threats.
What we are discussing here is an effective defense against home invasion. That threat is much more real and happens all too frequently. Even if you had a safe room, there is no guaranty you will be made aware of the threat in time to get into it. Many times the attack occurs when we are sleeping. By the time your attackers wake you up its too late. You are under their control.
What's the answer?
The answer is to make your bedroom the safe room - panic room. You won't have to move a finger to be safe. OK then how do we make your bedroom a saferoom without having to clad it in armor and integrate air filtration systems and provide communications to the outside, etc.??
A safe room has to be impenetrable for at least 20 or 30 minutes to allow help to arrive. You need just a sturdy door and deadbolt lock and an Burglar Blaster or Interceptor Motion Detection Pepper Spray device.
